January Training

Monday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. ET: Report for America Webinar
CMA members (and their students) are invited to attend a joint webinar with Report for America to learn more about the national service program’s opportunities and application process. This is a free event but requires registration. Register here.

Tuesday, Jan. 13, and Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 1 to 6 p.m. ET: New Adviser Training
This comprehensive two-day virtual training is tailored to help new advisers navigate the challenges of college media advising, build a strong foundation and connect with experienced professionals in the field. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 5 p.m. ET: Student Media in Student Affairs Confab
Exploring the pros and cons of Student Media falling under the Student Affairs umbrella. Evaluating potential challenges and advantages within that structure while exploring partnerships with campus partners and community/professional organizations. Register here.


CMA Officer Nominations

CMA is seeking candidates for our spring officer elections when members will vote for a new Secretary and Treasurer to serve two-year terms from October 2026 to October 2028, as well as a President-Elect, who will serve from October 2026 to October 2027, transitioning to President at that time. The officer nomination deadline is Feb. 1.  Nominate yourself or a colleague here.


 Fall National College Media Convention Director Application

CMA is now accepting applications for Convention Director for the Fall National College Media Convention Nov. 4-7 in Kansas City, Missouri, to be hosted jointly with Associated College Press. We are seeking applicants who are passionate, innovative and collaborative. The selection process is designed to be equitable and open to all who are interested in serving in the role. CMA and ACP officials will review applicants and select candidates for virtual interviews with select board members and convention collaborators. Apply here.


Spring National College Media Convention

Registration remains open for CMA’s Spring National College Media Convention March 4-7, 2026, in New York City. We hope you’ll join college media advisers and student journalists from across the country for hands-on training, fresh ideas and meaningful connection. Early Bird Registration is $165 for students and advisers who are members of CMA and $285 for non-members. The Early Bird Deadline is Jan. 30, 2026. Register here.

Interested in submitting a session for the convention? Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis, with our planning committee evaluating sessions for relevance, originality and impact. Final decisions will be shared by Jan. 9, 2026. Submit here.

CMA’s Spring Convention will be hosted at the New York Marriott Marquis, located in the heart of Times Square. The hotel is steps away from major news networks, Broadway theatres, iconic NYC landmarks and some of the vest food, bookstores and coffee spots in the city that never sleeps. Attendees can reserve discounted rooms at $309 per night for up to triple occupancy. The total nightly rate, including taxes and fees, is $358. Book a room.
