Photo Contest NYC
CMA announces 'Take Cover' photo contest for NYC convention-goers
Students who attend the 2010 National College Media Convention can take the cover photo for the 2011 program.
CMA photoshoot coordinator Bradley Wilson and 2011 convention director Michael Koretzky have announced the "Take Cover" photo contest. The rules are simple: Students attending this year's convention just need to venture outside the hotel and shoot images of the city. After the convention, they can email up to three of those images to cma2011nyc@collegemedia.org.
The winning photo will become the cover of next year's program, and the winner's mugshot and bio will be featured inside. Photos from the runners-up will be published inside the program, with full credit by name and school.

Tales from FERPA crypt
Tell us your FERPA horror stories. The Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act was intended to protect educational records. However, as many know, some institutions have extended the definition of "educational" records to keep what should be public information behind a veil of secrecy. Kevin Schwartz at the University of North Carolin at Chapel Hill is collecting FERPA "horror story" anecdotes in an effort to make a case for reform of FERPA restrictions.
